Truman: The Truman Doctrine Mr.President, Mr.Speaker, Members of the Congress of the United States: The gravity of the situation which confronts the world today necessitates my appearance before a joint session of the Congress.
The foreign policy and the national security of this country are involved.
One aspect of the present situation, which I present to you at this time for your consideration and decision, concerns Greece and Turkey.
The United States has received from the Greek Government an urgent appeal for financial and economic assistance.
Preliminary reports from the American Economic Mission now in Greece and reports from the American Ambassador in Greece corroborate the statement of the Greek Government that assistance is imperative if Greece is to survive as a free nation.
I do not believe that the American people and the Congress wish to turn a deaf ear to the appeal of the Greek Government.
Greece is not a rich country.
Lack of sufficient natural resources has always forced the Greek people to work hard to make both ends meet.
Since 1940, this industrious, peace loving country has suffered invasion, four years of cruel enemy occupation, and bitter internal strife.
When forces of liberation entered Greece they found that the retreating Germans had destroyed virtually all the railways, roads, port facilities, communications, and merchant marine.
More than a thousand villages had been burned.
Eighty-five per cent of the children were tubercular.
Livestock, poultry, and draft animals had almost disappeared.
Inflation had wiped out practically all savings.
As a result of these tragic conditions, a militant minority, exploiting human want and misery, was able to create political chaos which, until now, has made economic recovery impossible.
Greece is today without funds to finance the importation of those goods which are essential to bare subsistence.
Under these circumstances, the people of Greece cannot make progress in solving their problems of reconstruction.
Greece is in desperate need of financial and economic assistance to enable it to resume purchases of food, clothing, fuel, and seeds.
These are indispensable for the subsistence of its people and are obtainable only from abroad.
Greece must have help to import the goods necessary to restore internal order and security, so essential for economic and political recovery.
The Greek Government has also asked for the assistance of experienced American administrators, economists, and technicians to insure that the financial and other aid given to Greece shall be used effectively in creating a stable and self-sustaining economy and in improving its public administration.

I talk about what I learned by using my ABCs. A is America. John Kerry is a hero to America, and he will help our futures. He is a great and positive role model. B is Better education. John Kerry wants to make class sizes smaller, so that children get the best part out of learning. He wants to help teachers because being a teacher is educating children, and letting them out into the world to do good things. C is Compassion towards children. John Kerry wants to make sure that health care is not a privilege, but it is something that we can all afford. This summer, I was supposed to go to my favorite camp. But instead, I decided to go to the John Kerry office every day. Kids can really help! On , we have an interactive presidential quiz. There are 270 questions for the electoral votes John Kerry will win. Plus, 25 questions to make up for Florida from the last election. Our next goal is to have a petition for National No Name-Calling Day, a day that the candidates dont say anything negative about one another. When our Vice President had a disagreement with a Democratic senator, he used a REALLY BAD word.
If I said that -- If I said that word, I would be put in a time-out. I think he should be put in a time-out.
The last time I saw John Kerry, he grabbed my arm and said, See you at the convention. And here I am! What will be even more amazing will be the inauguration in January, when we have a new President, knowing that kids have made a difference in this election. To summarize, Teresa Heinz Kerry: Inspirational, amazing! John Kerry: American hero, next President.
Kids need-Kids need positive-Kids need positive role models in politics. And our Vice President deserves a long time-out. Kids-Kids, this is about our futures. Make sure all adults you know get out and vote. We can have a voice today!

Good afternoon!
Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?
The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

Some years ago, one of the people I admire and respect most architect is Renzo Piano just turned 70 and I asked him what felt like. He said that, as much as he had thought about and prepared for that moment, it still came as a shock. Now I can attest to that feeling of shock but more than anything he said it made him feel that our proper lifespan should be 210 years, 70 to learn, 70 to do, and 70 to teach the next generation.
This lovely description captures an elementary fact of life: a good life has the feeling that we’re learning more and more as we go. And that we could do even better if we just learned a bit more. I hope that you are fortunate enough to carry that spirit of life with you and we must hope together that it continues to define this nation and the world. In the centuries ahead, on behalf of Columbia University, I extend to all our graduates the centennial class of 20xx warmest k you!

For example, the luxury giant Louis Vuitton, the wonderful ups and downs of his life turning point amazed future generations. Born into a carpenter's family in the countryside, before the age of 14, his most contact was with flying sawdust. His life took a turn when he was 14, and he became a luxury giant.
When Louis Vuitton was 14 years old, two fashionably dressed young men came to the village. They laughed at the villagers for their old-fashioned clothes, "Why does the moon look so dirty in this ghost place"! These words stabbed Louis Vuitton deeply, and he was determined to go to Paris and see what the difference was between the people and the moon. After wandering all the way, Louis Vuitton finally came to Paris, but found that the moon here is not as clean and complete as that of his hometown, and the people's dresses made him an eye-opener. The destitute child lives in extreme hardship in Paris with no family and no reason. Later, he was starved to the door of a high-end luggage store, and the good-hearted owner rescued him. When he woke up, he seized the opportunity and asked the owner to take him in as a clerk. The shop owner rejected him, and after some setbacks, Louis Vuitton finally found his first job in Paris as an ordinary clothes bundler. He cherishes this job very much, asks the masters for advice humbly, studies the practice assiduously, and strives to make every detail perfect. He has always believed that everything learned today will become the seeds of tomorrow, and everything you have learned cannot be viewed from an overly utilitarian perspective. They are neither high nor low, nor worthless. It is safe”, what you sow today will reap what kind of tomorrow.
A year later, Louis Vuitton again came to the luggage store where he had initially starved, and again asked the owner to take him in, but the owner again refused him. In the end, he used his intelligence and ingenuity to make the shopkeeper make an exception to take him as an apprentice.
Apprentice Louis Vuitton is diligent, humble and enthusiastic in the store. Because he has worked as a carpenter, the luggage he makes is stronger; because he has worked as a bundler, the luggage he makes is more scientific and reasonable in space design. Soon, Louis Vuitton became a young master with excellent craftsmanship, and the luggage he introduced has maintained a good and outstanding sales record. Finally, he opened a luggage store on the Champs-élysées, paving the way for the advent of the fashion brand LV (Louis Vuitton).
It can be seen that any success is inseparable from accumulation. Without accumulation, there will be no discovery and innovation, and there will be no creation. In today's increasingly competitive society, we can't just work hard, but also pay attention to scientific thinking.

We have assembled here to celebrate our 67th Independence Day. As a citizen of India, I am so proud to talk to you about my mother India. On the night of August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rose to make a maiden speech in New Delhi, “When the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom.” Yes, India became free from the bondage of British rule. Now, India is the largest democratic country in the world. The country’s strength is to find, “Unity in diversity”. But, there are stray incidents that test her secularism but the people of India are ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of unity. Today we remember the great leaders who gave their lives for the nation’s freedom and prosperity. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an industrialized India. Gandhi Ji taught us Ahimsa and Non-violence. Subash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekanand gave us spiritual power. Yes, with these contributions; India will be the super power in the coming years. Our former President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam called the children of India to dream to build a strong Nation with aim and perseverance. Indeed! This is not a word of a single man. It is word of one billionsouls.

If we learn English well, we will have more chances to do more things, Or we will be eliminated out in today's society . We should have an active attitude in learning English. This is the first step to learn English Well.
Secondly, practice makes perfect. It is the best habit to practice English every day. Practice English anytime and anywhere. It’s a good way to improve your pronunciation by listening. Practice speaking English every day. You should catch every opportunity to speak English in class. For example, read in class, answering the teacher’s questions in class, making conversations with your classmates in class , Try your best to make good use of your class time. It's very easy to speak English well. Just open your mouth and blurt out. It’s the only good way to improve oral English. Don't be afraid of making mistakes, Don't be afraid of losing face . Don’t worry about others’ laugh . It's a secret to expand your words by reading and writing. Practice reading English over and over again. You'd better read and recite some good sentences or passages. Write English diaries, write down some good sentences, write down some good passages. There is no shortcut, but to practice. What is a talent, it's a person who repeats and practice the most. Practice makes perfect.
Thirdly, Never give up, force ourselves to be successful in some cases. Perhaps it is too hard to keep learning for some students. They may give up easily sometimes when they meet some difficulties. As long as you overcome every difficulty, you will surely grow up. Everyone has laziness , flinch, some bad habits. It takes a lot of courage and determination to break laziness, flinch, bad habits. We should conquer them no matter how hard they are. We should challenge ourselves , force ourselves to be successful in some cases . There is a story. One day a litter girl had a serious illness . She must be operated on quickly . Because of fear, she cried, shouted and refused. The doctor and the father had no choice but to control her , force her for saving her life. For example , if we have a cold , we have to take some medicine no matter how bitter it is. Or we have to take an injection no matter how painful it is . It’s said that there will be a rainbow after astorm. Never give up. Perseverance means victory. force ourselves to be successful.
Nothing is difficult to the man who will try. where there is a will, there is a way. It’s a piece of cake to learn English. Everyone is born with the ability to learn . But Whether or not you can do it well deps on your learning habits, attitudes, Research shows that successful learners have active attitudes and some good habits in common. I believe that everyone will conquer English and any difficulties by using good habits, active attitudes, courage and strong determinations.

First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”
Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 20xx Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.
Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?”

i am not sure how many of you realise that today marks a very important worldwide celebration for children. today is universal children’s day. so what, you may say, what does this mean to me, and why should i even bother to listen?
well the answer is very simple, as students in china we live a life of privilege and relative safety compared to children and young people in many other parts of the world. we are very lucky. but this shouldn’t mean that we don’t care about other children and communities around the world less fortunate than ourselves.
i think some classes have been learning about how students just like us in other parts of the world have to struggle to survive. some children cant afford the things we take for granted like food, clothing, safe water and sanitation and having the opportunity to go to school.
today is a day set aside to promote worldwide unity between children and to increase the awareness by all people of the plight of vulnerable children in some parts of the world.
in nsw, we are calling our contribution to universal children's day, unicef day for change. as part of this day, our school is doing..(brief description of activity).
